Page 276. At the request of Thomas Hungerford, the following deed was recorded on Aug 16, 1748.
Jul 23, 1748 from Richard Smith of CC, planter, to Thomas Hungerford of CC, Gentleman, for 13,500 lbs tobacco and for divers other good causes, 3 tracts of land, being contiguous, in William and Mary Parish in CC. The first tract, Longest Day, is bounded by Smiths Branch otherwise called Bennets Branch, containing about 26 acres. The 2nd tract is called Bayleys Fancey and contains, by patent, about 4 acres. The 3rd tract is bounded by Bennets Branch or Smiths Branch, Pents Cr, called Long Point, containing about 34 acres. Signed - Rich:d Smith Sr. Wit - Wm Middleton, Arthur Lee. It is agreed between the parties that Richard Smith will warrant Longest Day against all persons. Mary, the wife of sd Richard Smith, released her dower.

Page 120 (103). Lease. Jun 20, 1753 from Richard Smith of CC, to William Hungerford Jr of CC, planter, for 6000 lbs of tobacco, the lease of a tract of land called Lawger, and whereon Richard Mastin lately dwelled, situated in William and Mary Parish in CC, containing and laid out for about 100 acres. (If Thomas Hungerford legally recovers any part of the premises afd, sd Richard is not to make such part recovered to sd William good). Richard reserves for himself liberty to cut any timber on sd land that he needs for his own use on his dwelling plantation, not destroying or impoverishing the land afd. This lease starts next Jan 1, and is for the term of 10 years from thence. The rent, to be paid each Jan 1 at the dwelling house on sd land, if demanded, is 1 ear of Indian corn. And by these presents, sd William is granted full power to use, possess, and enjoy the premises, to farm lett, not selling any of the timber thereon. Sd William will not keep on the land afd more than 4 laborers yearly employed. Signed - Richard Smith, Wm Hungerford. Wit - Robt Yates, Notley Outton, Arther Lee. Mary, wife of sd Richard Smith, came into Court, and being first privately examined, voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the lands conveyed. Recorded Jun 25, 1753.
