JOHN FOSTER IS DEAD

Woodford County Pioneer Passed Away
in Eureka on Wednesday

Eureka, Sept. 17 --(Special)-- John
Foster, one of the honored pioneers of
Woodford County, died at the house
of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Smith to-
day. He was born in Western Penn-
sylvania, January 22, 1821. When he
was five years of age his father moved
to West Virginia and there he grew
to manhood. In April 1849, he came to
Illinois and in 1854 bought land here.
In 1855 he was married to Miss
Eliza Jane Mitchell who died May
23, 1871. Only one daughter, Mrs. W.
H. Smith survives. He had been a
member of the Christian church for
sixty-____ years, and was a charter
member of the Mt. Zion church.
Funeral services will be held at the
Mt. Zion church Friday afternoon at
2 o'clock.
