Date of marriage unknown. Bond dated 10-11-1823. Moved from Bedford County, Virginia before the birth of Sarah Ann. Barbara's marriage bond was signed on 10-11-1823. The Virginia 1830 census shows William in Botentourt County, Virginia along with an Esther Arms, possibly his grandmother. According the the memoirs of his son, William Jr., the family left Virginia for Vermillion County, Illinois in 1832 and were in Breckinridge Co., Kentucky by 1834. Each of his children reportedly added an "e" to their name. Residing in Breckinridge County during the 1850 census with seven of their children at home: Sally Ann 14, Joseph 10, Lucinda 10, James 8, George 6, Louisa 4, and Daniel 22 with his wife Martha 20. The 1860 census again finds William and Barbara in Breckinridge County with three of their children still at home: Sally A. 25, George W. 16, and Louisa 14.
