Martha FOSTER

(Abt 1863 - 18 Nov 1918)

Martha MORRIS nee FOSTER had a very unhappy life in her later years.
Firstly she lost not only her husband but also two of her sons in a
fierce storm at sea and was deprived of burying any of them because
their bodies or the ship in which they sailed were never found. This
fact has caused the cimpiler to wonder how such a situation was dealt
with in those early days. Did she have to wait seven years for them to
be officially declared dead? Were her husband's financial assets tied
up for all that time and how did she cope?
