John William TAYLOR

(19 Mar 1918 - 1 May 1974)

John was born and spent his childhood near Guernsey, Ia. Following his graduation from Guernsey High School, he enrolled in the Cedar Rapids Business College, from which he graduated. He was employed at Wilson Co. in Cedar Rapids, Chicago, and Atkinson, Ks. He farmed prior to serving with the US Army. He spent 3 1/2 years in the Pacific during WWII. In 1948 he went into the insurance business with his father and bought it in 1954, owning and operating the Taylor Ins Agency.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion and the Brooklyn Commercial Club. He was also a member of the Guernsey School Board,acting as president for a time.
