Individual Details
Robert MOLISON
(Abt 1936 - )
Robert Molison, a native of Grinnell and associate professor of music and choral activities at Iowa State University, was recently named the second artistic director and conductor of the Des Moines Choral Society. He was chosen to replace former director and conductor Marion A. Hall who died in 1989.
Molison was chosen after he and two other finalists each directed one concert during the season. He directed "Music for Marion: a Memorial Concert for Marion Hall" during February of this year. He was selected as the new director and conductor for the volunteer chorus after a panel of judges evaluated his work.
Molison has received degrees from Oberlin College, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Yale University and the University of Illinois. In the past he has taught at Colorado State University, Brown University and the University of Illinois and has worked with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the London Sympathy, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Iowa All State Choir.
Molison will soon be reauditioning the 120-member group in preparing for at least three concerts in the upcoming season.
