"Peter Horry Cantrell enlisted in Company A, Capt. L. N. Savage, 16th Regiment of Tennessee, Col. John H. Savage, C. S. A. He was in the battle at Perryville, Kentucky. At Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he had his kneecap knocked out of place by a minie ball. He was taken prisoner at Missionary Ridge in 1863 and confined at Rock Island, Illinois, until the close of the war. He was a farmer and lived for many years near McMinnville, Tennessee. He died on his seventieth birthday and was buried from the Concord Baptist church." (THE CANTRILL - CANTRELL GENEALOGY, 1908, by Susan Cantrill Christie, pages 78 - 79.)
