John Cantrill
(September 18, 1800 - May 29, 1869)
"John Cantrill was born September 18, 1800, in Kentucky, where he married Mary Williams, who was born in Virginia, February 22, 1798. They moved to Ohio, and in 1838 moved to Lebanon, Iowa. He died May 29, 1869, at Afton, Iowa, and she died October 26, 1874, at Cantril, Iowa. This branch of the family are Methodists. A grandson writes: "It was considered by everybody who knew her that Mary Williams Cantril lived her daily life the nearest to the objects of the Methodist church of any one they knew; she carried her Christianity into her daily life."
