Lemuel Westlake Cantril
( - )
"Lemuel Westlake Cantril was born in Ohio and married Lydia Roberts in Iowa. He held many positions of trust and owned large tracts of land in Iowa. In 1871 he donated to the railroad company the land upon which the town of Cantril, Iowa is built. The city was partly laid out in November 1871, and finished in the spring of 1872. He was the first postmaster and had the first store in Cantril. Of their eleven children, we could only learn the name of Newton Cantril."
