Henry Clay Walling
(December 31, 1843 - January 19, 1931)
"Henry Clay Wallen inherited his portion of the original plantation, which included the home, from his father in his will which was drawn up on July 24, 1867. He lived on the plantation during his entire life and was a farmer by profession. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bismarck, Missouri. The plantation was bought by Elisha Wallen II (Henry Clay's father) from Elisha's brother William B. and wife Isabelle in January of 1825. The two brothers had come to Missouri from Tennessee with their Elisha Wallen I, about the year 1806. The plantation home is still being used, having been modernized and added to during the years. The original rooms, built in 1806, of logs, still stand and are held together by wooden pegs. Upon Henry Clay's death, his son Firman Tullock bought out the heirs to the plantation. He held ownership until his death in October 1954, then the farm was sold." ("Bellevue Beautiful View, Bellevue Valley, Missouri History 1763-1981. Information was submitted to the book by Clay Damon Wallen, 25 Franciscan Drive, Chico, California, where this family now all resides.)
"Henry C. was born on the farm where he now lives in 1843, and was educated in the subscription schools. Henry C. is a Democrat and a member of the Masonic fraternity. He has lived on his present farm of 251 acres all his life, and, besides this property, owns a fifth interest in the Wallen Copper Mines."
