William B. Wallen, brother of Elisha II, Homesteaded the Wallen Plantation in 1812 and Elisha II bought it from him in 1821. Mrs. Bert Lightfoot of Irondale, Missouri, states Elisha Wallen II built the rooms in back as they now stand and a story and half in front with the big fireplace. The front part was torn away and Uncle Clay Wallen, his youngest son, built rooms in front that are there now.

I will not attempt to describe this "THIS OLD HOUSE" but would like to call atention to the old loom in one of the upstairs rooms. How they ever got it upstairs is a mystery. It was still there the last time I visited the Plantation a few years ago. Also the Spring at the foot of the hill deserves mention as it probably been there forever; at any rate, is has furnished water for the Wallen families for 150 years.
