Individual Details

Joyce "Joicy" "Josie" "Louisa" Graybeal

(November 9, 1834 - June 11, 1867)

"Joice Graybeal Greear was born, I am not sure where, probably, Lansing, N. C. and I am not sure where they lived when she died but she was buried in a lonely grave in an old field in Grayson County where Calvin said he intended to be buried and then after he died our people in Grayson County told me the Thomas people disintered her remains and took them to their cemetery where her sister Katy Thomas was buried." (Aunt Jennie Johnson as per Lois Temple FGS 288x.)

"My impression is that Joyce Graybeal Greear was born just north of West Jefferson a short distance. Aunt Jennie's opinion on this should be more nearly right as she has lived in that section and is better acquainted with the changes taking place. She died at what is now Grant, Virginia, southeast of High Point Academy a short distance. She was buried on the farm not far from the home. Another home, I think was erected on the home site, a frame building built by your great uncle Andrew Greear." (In a letter from Claborn Baker Greear to Lois Temple dated February 5, 1974.)
