Individual Details
Charles Cagle Williamson
(August 9, 1842 - December 25, 1917)
"Charles Cagle Williamson was probably the ninth child born to this marriage. He was born at the old Williamson place approximately one-half mile south of Highway 494 about half-way between Duffee and Little Rock, Mississippi. A fine man, small of statue, and very easy to know. He was a very strong leader in the Newton County area. C. C. Williamson was president of the farm organization for a 2 or 3 county area, I was told. The only people he was ever heard to criticize were the Carpetbaggers and Union soldiers, who stole and/or took everything of any value, including family jewelry, money, gold and silver, belonging to our Williamson family. He lost one eye in the Civil War. Probably 2 or 3 of his brothers were killed in the Civil War. He married Lucinda Brown, daughter of Randolph Brown and Virginia Brown. To this couple three children were born: Joseph Randolph (Ran) Williamson; William Arthur Williamson, M.D.; and Charles Thomas Williamson. All three boys were born about one mile east of Day's Mill. Day's Mill is south of Duffee, Mississippi on the Duffee-Chunky Battlefield Road." (William A. Williamson, Greenville, Mississippi, 30 December 1978.)
