"Funeral for Mrs. Jessie Brown Greer, 97 of Nacogdoches Convolescent Center will be held 2 pm Sunday in the Cason Monk and Co. Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery. She died Friday. Officiating will be Elder W.V. Stanaland of the Primitive Baptist Church of Appleby and the Rev. Dr. Neil Cannon, a retired minister. Mrs Greer was born in Martinsville on Dec 27, 1882. She was the widow of George Greer and a retired homemaker. She was the daughter of John Brown and the former Mattie Walker. Mrs. Greer was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches County. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include a nephew, G.L. Brown of Fort Worth and five nieces, Mrs. McNeil Grimes, Sr., and Mrs. Vera Brown both of Nacogdoches; T.C. Polk of Elkhart, Mrs. Henry Groll of Mooringsport, LA, and Mrs Hertha Smith of San Diego, Calif. Pallbearers will be Wilton Boyett, Bryant Faulkner, McNeil Grimes, Sr., Stan Sisco, and Jerry Polk. "After Jessie's husband, George E. Greer, died of TB she lived with Nat Sisco for awhile and then moved to Newton, Newton Co., TX, where she had a small farm and lived there for many years.
