"Alexander Shelton Judy, Jr. was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky, 9-7-1842 and moved with his parents to Clay County, Missouri in 1852. He moved to Colorado in 1867 and settled on land on the Great Divide about 50 miles south of Denver, and his property is still known as the "Judy Ranch." On 12-2-1875 he married Jennie (Jane) Pennington, born in Nodaway County, Missouri 9-7-1855; she was the daughter of James and Susan (Wisdom) Pennington, both of whom were natives of Tennessee who came to Missouri in 1837, being among the earliest pioneer settlers in northwest Missouri. In 1878, Alexander Judy, Jr. and his wife Jennie moved to Jewell County, Kansas and settled in the White Rock Valley near Burr Oak, where they lived until they died. They owned large acreage and were successful in the farming and livestock business. Jennie died in 1923 and Alexander, Jr. in 1928. Both were buried in the Burr Oak Cemetery."
