William Oliver Kemper

(September 12, 1896 - May 20, 1987)

"William Oliver Kemper worked for Radford Wholesale Grocery and Coffee in Abilene, Texas to which his father had moved about 1903 from Missouri. Oliver met Maude Judia at a church picnic in Cisco and knew she was the girl he wanted to marry and did just that. Oliver went into the grocery business in Cisco, as part owner of the Kemper - Perry Grocery Market. Oliver and Maude moved to Abilene in the late nineteen-twenties, where he helped start the West Texas Coffee Company; he later owned the Livestock Auction and ran the Bus Company there for many years; but his greatest joy was the ranching business. Buying and selling cattle brought Oliver pleasure until the day he died." (Judia Kemper Terry, 1991)
