"Anderson family historians report that Joel Anderson married first in 1801 Anna Shasteen of Cumberland County, Virginia and second in 1804 Sarah Davis Greer of Taylor Store, Franklin County, Virginia.
"Mrs. Edythe Whitley, a well known historian and genealogist in Williamson County, Tennessee kept extensive notes on local personalities and families. One of her research cards, found in the Williamson County Library, reflects a conversation she had with a Mrs. Brevard in 1960. Among other information, Mrs. Brevard stated that Joel Anderson married twice, and his second wife was Sarah Davis Greer whose brother was Benjamin Greer of Little Lot in Hickman County. "Sarah Greer married Henry Hatcher." (Genealogical Chart of Richard L. Greer, Marion, Virginia, 1985.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: A number of Greers did marry Hatchers, but I can find no marriage record of Sarah Greer and Henry Hatcher. Henry Greer did marry Sarah Hatcher. This marriage seems doubtful.)
"Sarah Greer married William Wright, 1 October 1823." (ROYAL HERITAGE OF THE GREER, by Carolyn Beal.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: I have traced the information about Sarah's marriage to William Wright back to ROYAL HERITAGE OF THE GREERS by Carolyn Beal, page 37. This, in turn, was used as the source in Greer Kinsmen by J. B. Bell, page 112. The Sarah Greer, who married William Wright in 1823 was a daughter of Moses Greer, Jr., a grandson of William Greer, Sr., who was a brother of this Sarah's father, Benjamin.)
