"Johnny Martin was born in Seiling, Dewey County, Oklahoma. The family returned to Greenfield, Dade County, Missouri in 1908 and he lived here until the age of eleven when the family moved to Las Animas, Bent County, Colorado. Although the Martin family moved back to the Ozarks, Johnny couldn't forget his little girl friend in Las Animas. He returned to Las Animas and married Hazel Rice 21 May 1930. They have made Colorado home all these years but at last report (1989) Hazel had broken a hip and after surgery was living in a nursing home. Johnny was living alone in their home in Colorado."
