On December 21 (1935), Mrs Bettie Embrey died at her home. She was 83 years old and had lived a life of service to her many friends. In her early days she joined the Methodist Church, and she spent her life in its work. Mrs Embrey married James H. Embrey in 1872. To this union seven boys were born, five of whom survived her. Mrs Embrey also leaves a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren." (The Tate County Democrat, December 26, 1935.)
