"Henry A. Greer married Mary Aldridge, 6 February 1850, Josiah Greer, minister." (DeSoto County, Mississippi Marriage Book 1, page 389.)
"Henry Abert Greer was 35 years old in 1860 and was of conscription age during the Civil war. He was blinded on his way to a grist mill during the war. His name was spelled "Greyor" in the 1900 Census, Family # 231, DeSoto Co. Mississippi. His grandson , Colbert Embrey was at this house. 16 years of age. Henry A. "H. G. (sic, should be "A.") Greer who has been blind for a long time, died on Monday night. His remains were intered in the Greenleaf Cemetery Tuesday in the presence of a large concourse of people." (Obituary, Tate County Democrat newspaper, September 5, 1902.)
