"Buster was born in Nocona, Montague County, Texas on 13 August 1910. When he was about six years old his family went, by covered wagon, to the state of New Mexico to homestead. His father discovered that homesteading was not his forte so they packed the wagons and headed back to Texas territory. They returned to Nocona where his youngest brother, Alvin, was born. In the 20s his family moved to Wellington, Collingsworth County, Texas. Here at the age of nineteen, Buster married Leona Davis but the marriage was of short duration. Leona died, at approximately eighteen years of age, leaving a seven months old son.
"Buster married Dorothy Elizabeth Shehorn 17 May 1934 in Glen Rose, Somervell County, Texas. Dorothy, born 29 November 1915, is the daughter of Arthur Shehorn and Annie Marie Fletcher. At the time of their wedding, Buster was serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps. A short time later he was released from duty and took employment in Cleburne where the family lived until 1940. At this time they left Texas in a 1936 Ford headed for California. The family settled in the south east side of Los Angeles were Buster worked for the Safeway Store. A couple of years later he took a job with Perfection Distilled Water, a company that he stayed with until retirement. In 1947 the family moved to South Gate, California where Dorothy and Buster lived until he retired in 1974. They relocated in Oceanside, California where they continue to reside."
