NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Some researchers have shown a marriage of Elijah Watts to Margaret Simpson. This appears to be incorrect, as the 1880 shown him as a bachelor. According to Lori Linnell, who has done much research on this branch of the Watts family: "This Elijah Watts never married. Margaret Sampson was the second wife of his Uncle Elijah Watts (son of Jacob Watts and Elizabeth Durrett). The older Elijah Watts left a will naming Margaret in his will. He married her 27 November 1823 in Orange County, Virgina. I think someone got it mixed up along the line and transposed the date of 1823 to 1832 and assumed it was the younger Elijah Watts. The younger Elijah Watts died in 1884, left a will, and is buried next to his mother, Lucy, in Randolph County, Missouri."
