(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Susannah Pinegar Flinchum Irwin is probably the wife shown on the 1840 White County, Tennessee census. She and William had a child about 1841, who married a McCroy. Flinchum researchers show her to have died about 1871 in Stokes County, North Carolina. If this is the case, she must have left William. I feel that she died soon after the birth of her child in White County, Tennessee, as William mentions "the child of his last wife" in his will.)
