Mary M. Cantrell
(December 4, 1754 - Abt, 1844)
"Some sources say Sampson Bethel died in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. "Bethel" is sometimes found spelled "Bethell." He moved to Rockingham County, North Carolina about 1770 with his parents, and to Spartanburg South Carolina after 1773 but before 1790. Sampson moved his wife and children to Smith County (it later became DeKalb County), Tennessee in 1800 near the town of Liberty. Constance was already married and stayed in South Carolina. Sampson was on the church roll of the Brush Creek Primitive Baptist church in Smith County, Tennessee in 1802." (THE EARLY BETHELLS AND THEIR DESCENDANTS; 1635-1994; by Virginia Garde, page 30.)
The approximate death date of 1813 was given in a letter to Reta Evans received from Gene Bethel, 7 Apr 1995.
