"As for the third daughter listed in Philip Raiford's will, Patience - there appear to be no records extant of her life, her marriage or her death. Patience is said to have married Arthur Whitehead (born 1715, died 1748), but no record has been located to substantiate that union. In addition, the disparity in their probable birthdates make such a union highly unlikely." (RAIFORD FAMILY by W. R. Raiford, 1989, page 48.) (NOTE FROM RAPH TERRY: W. R. Raiford on page 144 in RAIFORD FAMILY, does not explain why he shows Moses Kirkland as the probable husband of Patience Raiford.)
Did Patience marry. Joseph LANE, Jr.? 1728- Patience LANE gave to Matthew RAIFORD & Joseph LANE, her husband, Power of Attorney to land in Bertie Precinct, Edgecombe Co, NC (McBee, page110). 1733- The land was bought back by LANE.
