William Williamson

(Abt, 1756 - )

1820 Lexington County, South Carolina census: William WILLIAMSON: 1 male over 45; 1 female over 45. (First is listed William WILLIAMSON, then two down is Thomas WILLIAMSON and the next is Charles WILLIAMSON.)

"William Williamson is listed on the 1803 membership list at Dean Swamp Baptist Church, Lexington County, South Carolina. William made petition to the Senate of South Carolina, for a bridge over the North Fork of the Edisto River to join his property in Lexington County with that also owned in Orangeburgh County, South Carolina, date 1811." (Bobby Crocker.)

"I am currently trying to confirm information taken from a Williamson family Bible that is the possession of one of Henry's great grandsons, who is also named Henry (age 87), that states Henry's father is Charles David? I'm trying to confirm this, however the cousin I contacted, has since changed e-mail addresses. Another story in the Bible: There was a group of 10 Williamson men (brothers/cousins?) who operated a grist mill in South Carolina. They supplemented their living by logging and rafting the logs down to the Gulf, selling the timber, and going back home by stage, a hundred mile trip by coach. On breaking up partnership, they scattered to Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma." (Johnny P. O'Rourke, Annapolis, Maryland, email: jorourke@severnapark.com>.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: I am putting this note here, as I feel all the Williamsons shown as the son of William are connected here or in the prior generation.)
