David Gentry listed in St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co., Virginia from 1782 to 1812.

David Gentry followed his children to Kentucky in his old age and made his home with his son Richard, on the homestead six miles south of Richmond in Madison County, KY, where he was buried in the old Gentry family graveyard.

1748 David Gentry sold land in Louisa County, Virginia, on August 22, 1748, to John Brooks. He again deeded 178 acres of land on Doyle River, in Albemarle County, Virginia, to his brother Martin Gentry on November 1778, and he bought 500 acres of land in Albemarle County, Virginia, on May 14, 1778 from Thomas Hull of Goochland County, Virginia.
