In 1809, shortly after their marriage, Presley and Asenath moved to Perry County, Ohio. In 1812, Presley in listed in McConnel's Regiment of the Ohio Militia as a private. Twelve days later Presley returned to farming in Perry County. Presely's enlistment record dated 29 August1812, shows that he was discharged. 9 September 1812, but did not report the reason for his discharge. In about 1840, Presley moved to Hocking County, Ohio where Presley was a land owner.
