"W. J. Shockley married Miss Sarah Griffith, Dec 28, 1882 by Elder C. H. Featherstone." (Coleman County, Texas marriage records.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: In February, I found the original marriage license still on file in the Coleman County Clerk's office, which I now have.)
(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: There is a Mrs. Sarah Parmelice Shockley, who died in Comanche County, Texas 4 December 1925. No other deaths in the Texas Death Index through 1940 fit her or her husband's names. The only other Shockley in Comanche County deaths is Gidean Hollingsworth Shockley, died 17 March 1923. I don't know if there is any relationship in either of these to Sarah A. and Wiley J. Shockly.)
