"Calvin Greer, along with brother William M Greer, was a member of Company G, 4th Tennessee (Starnes) Calvary Regiment, part of Nathan Bedford Forrest's original command. Both survived the war, but Calvin was wounded in the heel by accident, as he would later claim. He was also a member of President Jefferson Davis' calvary escort during the attempt to escape following the fall of Richmond. The entire party was imprisoned in Georgia. There are 3 cards: 48283071, 48283176 and 48283252 that make up the Confederate file for Pvt Calvin Greer. He served in Co. G, 4 (McLemore's) Tennessee Calvary after he enlisted 3 January 1862 in Cheatham by Capt. Ohara for a period of three years. He served from 3 January 1862 thru 31 December 1964. His age was shown as 30 on 26 Jan 1864. Calvin Greer and his wife, Hannah Francis Whitson Greer are buried in the Laguardo Cemetery in unmarked graves. As you face the cemetery, first row, extreme left hand side, are two unmarked graves. The leftmost grave is that of Hannah Francis Greer. The grave on the right is that of Calvin Greer."
