Francis Darvall Templer
(20 Feb 1891 - 22 Oct 1915)
Educated at Boy's High School, Christchurch and was farming in NSW at the outbreak of WW1. Joined the 2nd Australian Light Horse Brigade. Left with the main body and was a stretcher bearer on Gallipoli at the time of his death. Enjoyed golf and tennis.

Francis Darvall Templer, Private 570, 2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment, A.I.F., "A" Squadron. Joined 25 August 1914 in Lismore, N.S.W. for the duration of the war and 4 months thereafter. Born near Woodbury. Age 23 years and 6 months, a farmer. Attended Christchurch Boys' High School, NZ. Father: Edward Templer. Resigned from the New Zealand Mounted Rifles after two years. Unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board Transport A15 Star Of England on 24 September 1914. Died of gunshot wounds to abdomen, on board H.M.H.S. "Nevasa", after received in action on 22nd October 1915, Gallipoli Peninsula. Burial at sea on 23rd October, 1915 five miles south of Imbros. Chaplain, R.M. Cole-Hamilton. He was 5ft 9½ inches, 9st 9lbs, complexion dark. Religious denomination C of E. Father died on 11th October 1916. Mother - Mrs Ada Templer, Geraldine, Sth. Canterbury, New Zealand. Mother received the British War Medal No. 726, the 1914/1915 Star No. 3233 , The Victory medal No. 683 as one of the mementos of gallant service rendered by your son. Effects of deceased: Disc, pipe, letters, coin, key chain, curio, wristlet watch, match box, 2 badges.
