Elbert Wolcott was the son of Hiram and Mary Campbell Wolcott, the 4th son and eighth child of a family of ten children. He was born in the Village of Scotts, Pavilion township Kalamazoo County Michigan, July 24, 1853 and passed away at his home in Climax, August 21, 1918 aged 65 years and 28 days after an illness of several months. He was united in marriage to Susan Adell Loveland, August 20, 1882 to which union was born six children one son and five daughters. He has always made his home in and around Climax and is well known throughout this community. He was a patient sufferer, never complaining. He is survived by the wife, one son Howard E. of Climax, five daughters Mrs. Maude Kindy and Mrs. Myra Solomon of Battle Creek, Mrs. Jennie Griffith, Mrs. Mary Smith and Miss Sherley Wolcott of Climax, three sisters Mrs. Mary Howard of Climax, Mrs. Elsie Ralph of Battle Creek and Mrs. Francis Sherman of Fulton, three brothers William Wolcott of Fulton, Samuel Wolcott of Wayland, and Hugh Wolcott of Three Rivers also eleven grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the home Friday afternoon at 2 o ’clock. Rev. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment in the village cemetery.
