She died November 4, 1897 in Center, Shelby County, Texas and was buried in the Sardis Church Cemetery in Shelbyville. She was survived by her husband John,her daughters Douchie Lavinia Howard Garner and daughter Sarah Jane Howard Webb and son Green Berry Howard.
