Laura Rhudy McCaskill, 96, died Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Cedars Heathcare Center after an extended illness. She was born in the Brewer Community to Jim H. and Mary Lee Porter Rhudy. She worked at Reed's Manufacturing. She had lived at Cedars Health Center since February 2006. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church in Plantersville and the widow of Edward McCaskill, who preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1972.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Alton Elrod officiating and the eulogy by Eddie McCaskill. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald McCaskill (Ruth) of Southaven and Grady McCaskill (Jane) of Saltillo; one daughter, Sue Bedford (Leroy) of Skyline; six grandchildren, Eddie McCaskill (Gay) of Athens, Ga., Jerry McCaskill ( Beth) of Nashville, Tenn., Jefferey McCaskill (Renae) of Olive Branch, Leroy Bedford Jr. (Karen) of Memphis, Tenn., Barry Bedford of Mooreville and Teresa Aldridge (David) of Tremont; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Shelly Matthews and Jean McCaskill, both of Birmingham, Ala., and Earline McCaskill of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two granddaughters, Sherry and Karen McCaskill; five sisters, Essie Deaton, Zera Owens, Ethel Edwards, Vera McCormick and Jimmie Edwards; and three brothers, Clifton, Carlos and Ray Rhudy.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Eddie McCaskill, Jerry McCaskill, Jefferey McCaskill, Leroy Bedford Jr., Barry Bedford and David Aldridge.
