Mrs. Collins Interred at Plantersville
Mrs. Essie Deaton Collins, 79, was dead on arrival Monday, Aug. 18, at 11:30 am at Houston Hospital. She was a retired housewife and resided at Houlka.
Funeral services were conducted at Union Methodist Church near Nettleton at 2 pm on Aug 19, with the Rev. George Brewton officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery at Plantersville. Houston Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Collins was born in Lee County Jan. 17, 1896, the daughter of Jim Rudhy and Mary Lee Porter Rudhy. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by four sons, Buford Deaton of Tupelo, Leroy and Millard Deaton, both of Houston, and Raymond Deaton of Houlka; five daughters, Mrs. Jeannie Mae Cox of Hughes, Ark., Mrs. Winnie Mae Cox of Memphis, Mrs. Ruth Frisby of Jones, La., Mrs. Mary Lee Lyles of Houston, and Mrs. Inez Brasfield of Murray City, Tn.
Aso surviving is one brother, Carlos Rudhy of Nettleton and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Edwards and Mrs. Jimmie Edwards, both of Nettleton and Mrs. Vera McCormick and Mrs. Lora Lou McCastkle, both of Plantersville.
Forty-seven grandchildren also survive.
