Mrs. Mathews Funeral Held
Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. at Duncanville Baptist Church for Mrs. Luther M. Mathews, 72, who died Wednesday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alex Dowdy, 2321 Meadowbrook Drive, after a long illness. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Mathews was the daughter of the late James R. Thompson and Amanda Thompson, prominent citizens of Hale County. She was a member of the Duncanville Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ozero Hutchins, Mrs. Alex Dowdy and Mrs. Francis Bell, all of Tuscaloosa; four sons, Foster, James and Festus Mathews, all of Tuscaloosa and Hobson Mathews, Albuquerque, New Mexico; four sisters, one brother and ten grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were nephews of Mrs. Mathews.
