Burial
Inscription: SACREDto the memory of
Revd. THOMAS S. GREER,
who departed this life August 23rd
1837, in the 70th year of his age. He made
profession of the christian religion in
1788, and was licensed to preach in
1798, and was ordained in 1799 He
continued a zealous patriot in the
cause of Christ until his death. His
ministry was attended with the best
consequences.
My toils are o'er, my body sleeps,
In this cold bed of earth,
My tongue lies mute with all its powers
Subdued by conquering death.
My soul hath spread her wings in haste
[The lower part of the headstone is buried.]
