Martha Virginia Channell Hinton passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was 84. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Father Paul Pradat will officiate. A visitation will start at 10:00 a.m.
Martha was born in Tuscaloosa to Gilbert Russell Channell and Lois Lewis Channell on February 14, 1938, as the second of nine girls. She was a rock for her family, friends, and the community. Martha worked as a nurse while raising her children and kept a curious mind throughout her life. She had a great sense of humor �?she loved singing with her sisters even when she only mouthed the words. And Martha was seriously competitive when playing Scrabble and Mexican dominos. She will be greatly missed.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James L. Hinton Jr., her sister Geraldine Dockery and her grandson Zachary Cole Hinton.
