The story that Myrtle gave Rudy Vallee a start in his career is possibly true. Myrtle had a band and she did live in South Portland, Maine in the 1920 Census less than 10 miles from Hubert(Rudy)Vallee and his family. Both Myrtle and Rudy are listed as having no job. Rudy's biography does not give any career information before 1923 other than that he could play the saxophone and sing.
