In this census James has married Annie and is living on Lafayette Street in Stockton. He is a blacksmith with an assistant so he probably was trying to make a go of his father's blacksmith shop.
1900 U. S. Census James Ivory was a boarder at (probably Chinese Camp) Toulemne township and County. He was a widower born Feb. 1849 in Michigan, a musician by trade.
No Ivory children other than James' nieces are listed in Tuolumne County in any vital records.
