Anna Mae (Eubanks) Wester Kerr
Anna Mae (Eubanks) Wester Kerr, one of the oldest citizens of Santa Maria passed away Febrary 15, 2012 at age 106. She was born April 28, 1905 in Indian territory near Temple, OK. She was eldest of 11 children born to J.e. and Mattie Eubanks. She married Henry Kerr in 1924 and together, they had 8 children. They moved from Texas to California in 1935 during the dustbowl and great depression. Ann worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 12 years. She married Coy Wester in 1955, and they were married 25 years until his death in 1981.
Ann moved from Hemet to Santa Maria in 1994. She's lived next door to eldest son H.S. (J.R.) Kerr and wife, Arlene ever since.She credited her wonderful life to love and care she rec eived from them, her granddaughter, Kristie, sons, Roger and Elvin and daughter Arlene. Ann was an amazing woman. She was a fabulous cook and seamstress. She was a huge country music fan, especially of Leann Rimes. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper every day. She was a great story teller and kept her family spellbound with her exciting real life adventures and remembrances.
Ann has 72 descendants. She is survived by her son, J.R and wife Arlene Kerr, of Santa Maria, daughter, Arlene and husband John Bazan of Lompoc, sons Elvin Kerr of Elkland, MO and Roger Kerr of Aspen, CO, brother Walt and wife Hazel Eubanks, sisters Pauli Hays, Millie and husband Miron Bonca, Dotti Edilson, 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grand-children plus 1 due in April. She was preceded in death by husband and her children, sons, Chuck, Gary and Richard Kerr and daughter, Cheryl Whatley.
Ann was a wonderful woman who was admired and respected by her entire family and anyone she knew. She was such an inspiration will be greatly missed by all her numerous family and friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for April. Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
