Joyce Joy Louise Plumb Sweeney, 66, entered into eternal peace with her Heavenly Father on Jan. 5, 2018.
Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Avenue, Fort Worth, with a reception to follow in the Garden Room. A private burial service for immediate family members will be held prior to the Celebration of Life Service. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission Center of Fort Worth at https://www.ugm-tc.org/donate/ or a charity of your choice.
Joyce was born Sept. 27, 1951, in Fort Worth at Carswell Airforce Base to William Bill; and Joyce Plumb. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1969 and went on to graduate from Texas Christian University in 1973. While completing her studies in Home Economics she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was married to James Jim Earl Sweeney on Sept. 28, 1978. Through hard work and loving devotion they built a beautiful life together for their family.
Joy was involved in Junior Womans Club, Soiree Club, Birthday Group, Supper Club, and activities thru Christ Chapel such as Moms Group, Women in the Word, and the Good News Club. She loved to practice yoga and spend time caring for her grandchildren and her beloved doggies. She had an eye for beauty and decorated the world with her infectious smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Bill Plumb.
Survivors: Husband of 39 years, Jim Sweeney; children, David Sweeney and wife, Beth and Lizzie Sweeney Flowers; grandchildren, Ava Sweeney, Piper Sweeney, Harper Sweeney, Mimi Flowers and Blaine Flowers; siblings, Cheryl Gaynor and husband, Kim Gaynor and William Plumb. Joy also leaves behind stepchildren and step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends that she has always held dear to her heart.
