William Eugene Plumb

William Eugene Plumb, 90, entered into life with his Heavenly Father on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3740 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Bill was born Oct. 26, 1918, in Fort Worth, to Maude Katherine Plumb and William B. Plumb.
A man of profound integrity, honesty and faith, Bill was a charter member of Central Christian Church, serving as a deacon and an elder for many years.
Bill enlisted in military service as a private and retired with the rank of captain. During his 24 years of service to his country, he proudly flew in the Strategic Air Command and the Second Air Force. He flew on the B-36 as a flight engineer and as a navigator on the B-52 and KC-135. During the Cold War he flew top secret missions, receiving many commendation medals and honors.
In 1964 Bill joined Tarrant Savings and Loan Association, which became a division of Empire of America. Starting in the collections department, he became head appraiser in 1968, assistant vice president in 1970, head of the loan security department in 1973 and senior vice president in 1978. He supervised all appraisals, security and loans and retired in 1983.
Bill had a life of community involvement. From 1984-1987, he served on the Tarrant Appraisal Review Board and he was also honorary vice president of TCU Athletics Scholarship Program from 1977-1980. For over 50 years he was a member of Masonic Lodge 148, the Worth Commandery, the Moslah Temple and the Knight Templar. Bill served on the Fort Worth Board of Realtors and Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He also was a member of the B-36 Association and Retired Military Officers Association.
The family wishes to recognize the importance of the Alzheimer's Association, Vitas Hospice and the staff at Broadway Plaza for their valuable service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and his infant granddaughter.
Survivors: Loving wife of 66 years, Joyce; children, Cheryl Miller and husband, James, Joy Sweeney and husband, James, William Plumb and wife, Dee Ann; grandchildren, Colby Monzingo and wife, Julie, Katherine Rivera, David Sweeney and wife, Dana, and Elizabeth Flowers and husband, Brooks.
