Everett D. Hardesty, 83, of Silver City, N.M. passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Bright Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tip Ward officiating. Everett was born Dec. 20, 1929 to Thomas DeWell Hardesty and Flora Annie (Collens) Hardesty in Lakewood, N.M. He was in the Army military and served his country during the Korean War at Camp Carson in Colorado. Everett worked 16 years as a construction worker and 20 years as a copper miner and retired from the Phelps Dodge Mine in February 1992. He also worked as a potash miner and helped build the Navajo Dam. His favorite things were square dancing, playing horseshoes, watching football and Nascar racing, collecting rocks, drinking a cold Pepsi, and enjoying excellent Mexican food. His greatest loves were his wife, his favorite dog Tarzan, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, and activities with other special family and friends. Everett was a wonderful, gentle, loving man and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Beulah Hardesty of Tyrone, N.M.; one sister Florella Joyce Buse of Eugene, Ore. and her family; four children Dewell (Patty) Hardesty of Las Cruces, N.M., Chuck (Cheryl) Hardesty of Tularosa, N.M., Bonnie Clark of Silver City and Linda (Terry) Reader of Leadville, Colo. Everett is also survived by six grandchildren, Christy (Kevin) McCarty of Deming, N.M., James (Kara) Reader of Albuquerque, N.M., Jennifer (Chris) Belyeu of Urbana, Iowa, Melinda (Kenneth) Schorn of Peoria, Ariz., Holly (James) Burke of Buckhorn, N.M., and Kevin Clark of Silver City. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Preston and Penelope McCarty, Sage and Dwayne Reader, Elizabeth and Katelyn Belyeu, Kaleb and Kylis Schorn, and Jason and Jamie Burke.
