Frances Camilla Abigail Stephens
(1 Oct 1874 - 6 Jan 1909)
"The LaFayette Sun" - January 27, 1909:
In Memoriam.
On last Wednesday morning, January 6th, the death angel visited the home of Mr. I. H. Stephens and bore away the spirit of his daughter, Mrs. Fannie Hodges.
She leaves 3 little children, besides a father and mother, five brothers and two sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her death.
Her death was not unexpected for she had been sick for a long time and bore her sufferings as a child of God.
Her remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in Concord Cemetery. She was 34 years of age.
She tried to have strength to bear all the Savior saw fit to put upon her.
She had been a widow nearly three years. After the death of her husband, Mr. Manson Hodge, she took up the cross of raising the three little children with great courage.
The write was with her a great deal. She never seemed alarmed at the thought of dying.
All was done for her that physicians and loved ones could do, but none could stay the hand of death.
We can only try to be reconciled to the Savior who giveth and taketh away.
A sister-in-law.
