Thomas George Getzen Danner
(6 Aug 1762 - 29 Oct 1844)
Thomas George Getzendanner was born to Jacob & Catherine Kast Getzendanner of Frederick County, Maryland. He was married first to Maria Ann Kuhns/Koontz 14 Oct 1787 and their son, Johannes Getzendanner was born 03 Mar 1788 and then died on 03 May 1788 in Frederick.
Later that same year, Thomas George surfaces in Pinckney Judicial District, South Carolina without his wife Maria Ann who remained in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland following the death of their son, Johnnes.
On 15 Nov 1791, Thomas George took a second wife, Amelia Stokes, in Pinckney District, South Carolina and she gave Thomas George 9 children between 1792 and 1810.
During the era of his children's births, Thomas George dropped the Getzen portion of his Swiss surname and assigned the middle initial G to all of his children to represent the Getzen portion of the name. That tradition followed many descendants of Thomas George throughout the generations.

At his death in 1844, Thomas George was buried on that land in what some of his descendants have come to call the Old Danner Plantation Cemetery, herein called the Getzendanner Plantation Cemetery.
