Helen Fair Strickland, age 83, of 602 3rd Avenue SE, died March 20, 2002, at Sansing Country Home. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aliceville First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
She was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Trannie Fair; husband, E. B. Strickland; brothers, Hiram, Avery, Laverne and Bartley Fair; grandchildren, Joshua Strickland and Tammy Montgomery.
Survivors include daughters, Dyan Duncan (Bill) of Starkville, Miss., Dolories Moore (Allen) of Aliceville, Sandra Shell (Michael) of Helena and Jenni Strickland of Aliceville; sons, Jack Montgomery (Pam) of McCalla and Elbert F. (Bud) Strickland of Aliceville; sisters, Kate Ledbetter and Lucille Boswell, both of Macon, Miss. and Mae Williams of Tuscaloosa; brothers, Jessie Fair of Gordo and Howard Fair of Buhl; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Gordo, on June 24, 1918 to the “late” Arthur and Trannie Fair. She was a retired employee of Hyuck Felt Company and a life long resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are nephews, great-grandsons, sons-in-law, Dr. Dale Robbins, Florea and Clay Sansing, J. T. Jones and the Estelle Chappell Sunday School class.
