Edmund Rolfe

Edmund Rolfe, son of George Rolfe and Elizabeth Hope, was born in Great Milton, Oxfordshire, England. On January 17, 1831 in Great Milton, he married Sarah Clayden and they became the parents of 11 children. Edmund and Sarah immigrated to Detroit, Michigan in 1852 with their family and took up farming in Maple Grove Township, Saginaw Co., Michigan. Sarah died in 1859 and Edmund, with the help of the older children, continued to raise their family in Maple Grove. Edmund was living with a niece and her family, Emma and John Hall, in Antrim, Shiawassee Co., Michigan in 1880 and after he died in 1889 he was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, Section 11, on New Lothrop Road, Hazelton Township, Michigan.
