CHESTERFIELD - Phyllis Louise Lee Hatch, 86, of Chesterfield passed away Thursday, June 24, 1999 at the Bannock Long-Term Care Center in Pocatello.
She was born August 23, 1912 at Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Isaac William and Anna Rosella Olenslager Lee. She graduated from Burley High School in 1931.
She married Ammon Paul Hatch October 29, 1931 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Phyllis had lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for six years: Burley, Idaho until 1931 when she married Paul, and moved to Chesterfield. They lived in Logan, Utah for 12 years, and also spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona for the last 4 years.
She was a member of the Chesterfield LDS Ward and had served as Relief Sociey president, in the Young Women's presidency and as a teacher in all the auxilliary organizations. She served as an officiator in the Logan Utah LDS Temple for 11 1/2 years, She served a mission with her husband in England-London LDS Mission January 1978 to June 1979.
She was an excellent seamstress, making many dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting. She was an exellent cook, Her life centered around her family, and she loved playing games. At the age of 75 she started painting, which had been a lifetime desire, Her beautiful painting s hand in the homes of her children and many of her grandchildren, She had received many awards for her paintings.
She was an avid fisherman, teaching the art of fishing to many of her children and grandchildren, She enjoyed the out of doors, gardening, beautiful flowers, Camping trips with her family and family reunions were a highlight in her life.
She had the talent of chrocheting, knitting and making beautiful quilts. Many grandchildren have been the recipients of her quilts, crocheted baby dresses and handmade items.
She is survived by her husband, A. Paul Hatch of Chesterfield, two sons and two daughters, Ammon Paul Jr. and Audrey Hatch, Gary Lee and LaRae Hatch, Kareen and A. Lee Crockett, all of Chesterfield, LaPreal and Wayne C. Perkins, Phoenix, Arizona; and a son-in-law, Ben Bradley, Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, William Isaac and Pearl Lee, Burley, Idaho, Ralph Kent and Patricia Forgeon, Ketchum, Idaho, Victor LaMar Forgeon, Rupert,Idaho and Helen Zillner, Burley, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Gaylie Jane Bradley, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 28 at the chesterfield LDS chapel. Burial will be in the Chesterfield Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
