Vera Maria Shippy

COLDWATER — Funeral services have been set for 1 p.m. Saturday [Feb. 19, 1994] at Gillespie Funeral Home for Vera Maria Byers, 90, of Coldwater, with Rev. Shayne Looper officiating.
Friends may visit the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Memorial donations may be mane [sic] to the church of ones choice or to Alzheimer treatment and research.
Mrs. Byers died Monday, Feb. 14, 1994 at the Carriage Inn Convalescent Center in Coldwater.
She was born Dec. 30, 1903 in Bethel Township the daughter of Eugene and Sarah Kantz Shippy.
On May 26, 1926 she married Hudean Hiram Byers in South Bend, Ind. She was a resident of Bethel Township in Branch County.
She graduated from Bronson High School in 1923 and attended Kalamazoo Teachers Normal. She taught at the Hatmaker one room school house from 1923 to 1926.
She is survived by her husband; children, Mrs. Barbara Kibbey of Florida, Ross and Marilyn Byers of Coldwater, Rev. Richard and Shirley Byers of Coldwater, and Dr. Dean and Bonnie Culver of Coldwater; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a grandson.
